Norethisterone is also known as norethindrone and is a synthetic progestin hormone which belongs to the 19-nortestosterone-derived progestin class. This is further classified as second-generation progestin, along with levonorgestrel and its derivatives, and is the active form of several other progestins, including norethynodrole and lynestrenol.   • Endometriosis:Β Usually taken daily long-term, with the dose adjusted by your doctor. Initial dose is often 5 mg, which may be increased.
