What is Vancomycin?
Vancomycin is a type of antibiotic used to treat a variety ofΒ bacterial infections. It is prescribed intravenously for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus-caused skin infections, bloodstream infections, endocarditis, bone and joint infections, and meningitis.
Vancomycin Uses

When taken orally, vancomycin remains in the intestines to inhibit the growth of bacteria causing these symptoms. It only treats bacterial infections and will not help with viral infections.
How to Use Vancomycin
- Administer this medication via injection as directed by your doctor, slowly over at least one hour.

- Visually inspect the product for particles or discoloration before use. Do not use the liquid if either condition exists.
